The Root Chakra (Muladhara or “root” in Sanskrit) is associated with the legs and feet, the large intestine, and the adrenal glands. A healthy and energized Root Chakra feels safe and grounded, securely “attached” to one’s physical body and open to the flow of the energy of embodiment.
The Root Chakra is also associated with the nervous system (described below), the limbic system (the amygdala of the brain, the “watchtower” or sentry that evaluates situations for a fight or flight), and the body-mind’s capacity for the elimination of wastes and unnecessary things.
The nervous system deals with the function of awareness and response.
